Subject: heid & nazism?
Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1999 13:15:22 -0500

folks,

i think of ariel dorfman's death and the maiden,
...of course the doctor is all the while engrossed
in schubert's quartet.

were schacht, speer, guderian, von braun, ...nazis?

my po-boy's 18 brumaire
imitation intended to show that the accepted
historical rendering of the period is
a myth...that the crimes of that history
are most meaningfully laid to a material dispensation
still very much in force.
...and then comes the standard procedure
nuremberg/truth-commission thing
which displaces it onto the underclass,
and creates the matrix for the meta-history
...and the framework within which
all subsequent clerical thinking obtains

by this the jackal style of the
lumpen fraction of the underclass
gets labeled fascist/devil,
and generaliszed to suficient cause,
rather than the master that unleashed it.
and profits from its ravages.

in the referred idealist construct,
fetishized bogeyman, "nazi",
certainly heid is absolved

but, in materialist fact, chauvinism,
like eros, is everywhere,
by the order of civilization it is
generally repressed/sublimated,
but only very tenuously at best

dwight mcdonald observed at the time
in re the expressions of moral outrage
from the superior nuremberg prosecutor types,
that they'd soon be home in virginia,
carolina, etc. and back to lynching niggers.

finally, my pt is (not henk's)
that the question itself is
a specious construct of idealist thinking

so heid was no nazi,
but the intro to metaphysics certainly
enunciates a zeitgeist,
...latter day spencerian jeremiad,
he was, alas, bourgeois.

bob
