I'd agree with your "proto-saying" -- a saying of 'first things' -- but not
if
understood as a kind of merely provisional saying, a merely first
approximation
that could later be disposed of and made more 'precise'. The down-to-earth
language some pedestrians are wont to insist upon is that language which is
deeply embedded unquestioningly in a world that has already consolidated and
ossified.

Jud:
Naturally the 'pedestrians' as is their 'wont,'  would respond that it is
the pseudo-language of existentialism which has undergone the ossification
and consolidation into an archaic  mish-mash of meaninglessness.
