Wonderful phrase. Touches home here and has for some time, as I sense it has 
for you, too, Gulio; and, poetically, approaches a heideggerian mood 
("contentless stream of thoughts"  "Stoic Skepticism").

I can only add to this some kind of anticipatorial flavoring, some sense of 
waiting-while-letting-things-be, whether tragically or not so, which tempers 
both skepticism and contentlessness.
