Date: Sun, 2 Sep 2001 16:53:36 -0700 From: Kenneth Johnson <poochiegraig-AT-home.com> Subject: rene and philosophy As for rene, there is something in his written english voice, a certain very specific stacatto quality, that is unpariel in two dimensions, first that his sentences always say something and second they always say it well, every time, without fail. This feat is further enhanced by an accomplished effect of getting these two features working together under the umbrella of Eric Hoffer's short analysis of what makes a good sentence, first, that it has to have a hook in it, and second, that it must remain unfinished so that the reader must finish it himself. I hope to hell you are writing a book mr. bakker, and if you are, i hope you write it in anglise, your rhythm there is superb, and partakes directly of Nietzsche's penetrating comment that "style" in a philosopher is far more critical to the advance of the life force (x) than content ever was. or, uh, so that last bit is not exactly what i mean, but i bet a billion$ you do know exactly what i mean - - - and ok so i'm breakin my single beer rule here, but hey, so what the (heck) are rules for????????? and if you ain't not got a book underway rene, i lose my bet w/myself, but what's worse than that is, that you should have -------- on philosophic gossip or whatever style tells more about the deeper deeps kenneth --- from list heidegger-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
