I'd like to pass on a question from a friend:

"I have a question for you.  Do you know who is responsible
for the quip that Heidegger's "Self-Assertion [Selbstbehauptung] of
the German University"  should really be called the "Self-beheading"
[or "Self-Decapitation," Selbstenthauptung] of the German
University"?  I thought it was Loewith, but can't find the reference
now."

Can anyone help?

To be sure, all signs indicate that the German Geist committed suicide
in the thirties.
