If you want to talk about public opinion within those countries, then let's 
go through the history of public opinion in such matters. Before Pearl 
Harbor was bombed, US public opinion was AGAINST entering WWII. I assume you 
agree that this was wrong. In December 1990, a New York Times/CBS News poll 
indicated that 48 percent of the American people wanted Bush to wait before 
taking any action if Iraq failed to withdraw from Kuwait by Bush's January 
15 deadline. And that was in the face of an outright invasion by Hussein! 
Finally, you may remember the massive demonstrations in both the US and 
Europe when the US put Pershing missiles in Germany in 1984 to counter 
Soviet installations. Demonstrators shouted that it would provoke a war, 
while Reagan said that it would deter. We now have the hindsight to see who 
was right.
