Yes they are. Sorry John: ========================News From Denmark - March 21, 2003 http://www.denmarkemb.org/news/news_03_21_03.html Danish Military Forces for the Multinational Campaign in Iraq On 21 March 2003, the Danish Parliament by a majority decided on the Danish military contribution to the multinational operation in Iraq. The Danish force contribution encompasses a submarine, a corvette, a surgical team as well as staff and liaison personnel. The Danish forces are under US command. The forces are in the area or on their way. They operate under a robust mandate for combat to accomplish the given tasks. The submarine may contribute to i.a. intelligence gathering, warning, and establishment of sea supremacy (approx. 40 personnel incl. crew and logistic element). The corvette may contribute to i.a. warning, establishment of sea supremacy, shipping control, escort duty, and rescue (approx. 110 personnel incl. crew and logistic element). A surgical team is available for use at a hospital or hospital ship belonging to another nation. Contributions are planned for deployment up to six months. The corvette was scheduled to participate in NATO’s anti-terror surveillance in the Mediterranean. Instead, this task will be carried out by two Danish Standard Flex patrol vessels. The crew on board the two vessels and the support personnel are in the range of 70 people. Finally, Denmark is contributing to the protection of its NATO ally, Turkey. The support consists of 5 liaison officers assigned to NATO crews in Turkey, 10,000 doses of small pox vaccine and 1700 sets of protection gear against nuclear, biological and chemical attacks. Furthermore, there are Danish crewmembers on NATO’s AWACS surveillance aircrafts in the area. ==================== Anthony Crifasi _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8.
