And as far as the issue of communism is concerned, primitive communism was practiced by Xtians. The monastic tradition is itself communist and so are many Protestant sects such as the Shakers (now passed), Mennonites, and old world Hutterites. In fact, in Grundrisse, by Marx, communism was one of the most common forms of civil society during the history of agrarian Europe. Having property in common is the 'core' basis of communism. Even if there are forms of private property (eg. in China many own their own homes and a small plot of farmland around the home, strata title in apartments, private tenures in public forests such as the US National Forest and Parks system, etc.) existing in common property, there is an assurance for self-reliance on individual initiatives to work, and to rest. Family assets are also a form of restricted common property, as are the laundries in strata type condominium complexes, etc. john foster > > _________________________________________________________________ > MSN 8 with e-mail virus protection service: 2 months FREE* > http://join.msn.com/?page=features/virus > > > > --- from list heidegger-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu --- > --- from list heidegger-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
