Yes, the spelling is Romanian, though we pronounce it as "two-door". It is
my baptism name (little name), a quite common name for a Romanian (I counted
about 30 Tudor Georgescu in an old Bucharest phone book), also the name of
an Eastern Orthodox saint. The name also exists in Bulgaria (Todor), Greece
(Theodoros), Russia (Tudor or Fiodor), and of course the French and British
dynasty.

It means, as well as English Dorothy, Slavic Bogdan and Jewish Matthew: the
gift of God.
