You reject one of the two greatest scientific revolutions in modern times, which was precisely about considering all possible states of motion and position of the observer or the observational equipments: thus spake the great scientist -- Jud. Have you read Einstein or just anecdotes from those who little understand anything except what appears in sensation or scandal rags in big bold type? When you say "We are not concerned here with 'thought experiments'", which "we" is this? Without such 'thought experiments' Galileo would not have conceived of the Tower of Pisa experiment to show that the velocity of a freely falling body does not depend on its mass; the thought experiment was the one concerning the 'inclined plane' -- heard of it, matey? Much of Einstein's extraordinary genius lay in the setting up of such thought experiments and then framing and structuring tests of the predictions based upon the results of such... and you, you simply sit there and reject! Such a combination of ignorance, arrogance (agnorance) and bitterness is impressively breathtaking, and such rejection is done out of hand, with no reasoning, and with some bogus assumption of community and consensus ("we") to back up the lack of grounds and reason. Humph!!! This is nothing to do with the fact that I like your spirit; if only this spirit was backed up by knowledge, humility and love. regards mP --- from list heidegger-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
