However as many do not realize, after Einstein resided in the US, worked at Stanford University, he was asked one day to sign a petition, a petition which was presented one day to Congress. His name on that petition was very important because he was one of the leading nuclear physicists of all time. The time was during the early part of WW2, and the intention driving the petition was to create atomic weapons, weapons of mass destruction which could be used in WW2. Einstein did sign the petition to Congress and the petition was successful. However as we know one day in August, 1944, the US government dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and instantly killed over 60,000 innocent civilians. After the dropping of 2 atomic bombs on Japanese civilians living in cities which had no military significance, Einstein sank into a deep depression because he was 'instrumental' in not only providing the science to build the atomic bomb, but also because he supported the construction and application of a bomb which instantly killed over 120,000 innocent men, women and children. In the 1950's Einstein was still so depressed over his involvement in the atomic bomb that he once said that if he had to do it all over again, he 'would have been a plumber.' In comparison Heidegger never had any direct role in the killing of hundreds of thousands of any civilians. His worst crime perhaps was...well what was his worst crime? He was a sinner like all of us I guess, but what was his worse crime. Leading questions are tricking....he was never convicted nor charged of a crime. So the comparison is useless. Einstein actually committed a crime, the most serious one that one can commit, although he was never charged of a committing a crime. I still like Einstein though... john thanks john, i needed that Suppose the semitic thing gets worse and they start to emigrate, one of them being a nuclear specialist, he goes to Iran and develops a bomb and one day it is ready. Now England is the target. One on Manchester, couple of days later another one on Birminham. This is the mirror image of Einstein, US and Nagasaki. What would Americans think of that man, who has been to school in Kansas, like Einstein in Ulm, Bavaria. How shizophrenic must one be, to hunt Heidegger instead of him? Not that I would target Einstein. There are so many more: Adorno (remember Benjamin!), Thomas Mann. There's a lot to do for future historiography. Like also England's war declaration to Germany, after the invasion of Poland. All is not so self-evident as we have been feeded. The scene painted, god and the dead animal... I was reminded of a Dostoevskian character, looking at a corner with filthy spider webs, and who says: THAT is all eternity there is. very courageous, john rene Life.. by Marshall Mathers What is life?
