From: GEVANS613-AT-aol.com Date: Tue, 23 Sep 2003 18:12:50 EDT Subject: Study Break for Michael Dear Michael: Study Break: Ontological is an adjective relating to ontology [noun] which is the study of the nature of 'being' and 'existence' [neither of which I believe in of course accepting only the verb 'exist' in its continuous verb form: existing, and the BE-word [ in this connection] only in its third person continuous tense.] Therefore I [like most other people] use the word adjectivally to describe something in the way it exists or is existing or is claimed to exist or is claimed to be existing by others. Thus and finally therefore to describe the ontological 'way' or modality, or manner in which some entity exists [say the variant particle/wave forms of an electron] is to employ the word 'ontological' in an adjectival sense. Hope this helps? If you wanna know anything else let me know. Did you know that there are plenty of good dictionaries [apart from Anti-Heidegger scribblers] on the Internet?
