There were similar objections during the drafting of the Japanese 
constitution during US occupation after WWII, concerning whether a culture 
of kamakazis and emperors was compatible with democracy. And the losses in 
that war dwarfed anything that has happened in Iraq, both civilian and 
military. So I'm very glad that your attitude as presented above did not 
prevail at that time.
