well, you seemt  have equated "god" with "freedom" unless I've forgot the
song lyrics :-) which is interesting as a slip (if it is...); it seems so
many regard the complulsion to serve both gods and dogs (the non-discoursing
higher/lower beings) as a freeing (is this the point of belief?)...

me, I neither believe nor disbelieve; gods, dogs and angels (especially
Rilkean ones) are limits of and food for -- thinking, essentially what needs
be thought; in that sense, I'm happy with them

[Janis Joplin's version is also essential]
