Tom, this particular expletive was very much directed at me.  Alan and
I have been having difficulties lately and my sarcasm about his post
seems to have been the last straw.  My post, by the way, was meant to
be sarcastic.  I am not at all inclined to dismiss experimentation
with lists, but I read Alan's post as being globally dismissive of
this whole discussion.  It is quite possible that I don't recognize
your points substantively, so let's keep talking.  But I am definitely
not dismissive of the experiments you suggest.
