Naming a "deep listening" list, or any other list, for that matter,
doesn't have to _exclude_ the possibility of linkage to other lists. Two
things that already happen seem to encourage what is already
"rhizomatic.". One is the fact that there is always crossover in
subscription to lists. The other is that the archives, which I just
checked out the other day, are already in place as a fantastic resource;
by gopher they are extremely easy to use and surprisingly the message
headers are usually pretty clear and to the point. What _is_ required,
then, for someone interested in this kind of fibrous connectivity, is an
awareness of what the other lists actually are, an awareness of the
archives, etc: in other words, a use of spoon that goes beyond simply
scooping email, an awareness of the architecture, if you will. (I've
ftp'ed stuff but admit I only just did the gopher thing; this was the
first time I'd seen some of the list-headings--not to mention the
discussions--and the first time "spoon" as a collectivity really
"collected" for me.)

I'd like to see the collaborative music proposal here, or at least some
discussion (if it hasn't already happened) that touches on its substance; I
think it belongs with the ethos, at the very least.
