Tom: I guess it's an OK idea to create lists for subjects, but isn't one route as bad as another route? for example, if we do talk about bahktin in a list named DIALOGIC -- fine, as far as that concept goes... but what if someone wants to talk about another aspect of bahktin? instead of the current "hey, there's a good conversation about lack/negativitity going on in the X group right now, all you people on the Y group talking about this may want to listen in" it'll be "hey, all you on the LACK/NEGATIVITY group, Deleuze's concept of lack is related to the way he reads Nietzsche, see PHILOSOPHICAL_READINGS for a discussion of this... and there's another good discussion on the same thing, but from a different perspective, going on in the DELEUZE list... the NIETZSCHE list also has some good stuff, but they think Deleuze is full of it... but don't bother with the ETERNAL_RETURN list, since they won't talk about LACK/NEGATIVITY there..." my vote would go for someone developing a "majordomo+" program where, for example, people could supply keywords for themselves and (any and all) posts to the server containing those keywords could be sent to them... on request, one could be sent a list of active keywords... at the same time, areas (lists) could be created that one could subscribe to... still, if someone is interested in (say) lack, it would then be possible for someone to tune-in on discussions of lack from wherever they might originate... I guess the real problem is how to assert some sort of "control" over a "list" without squashing avenues for discussion...
