Date: Wed, 14 Jun 1995 00:29:03 -0400 (EDT) From: fido <jfr10-AT-columbia.edu> Subject: names so far We've got proposals for: dialogism (Laurie Cubbison) [thoughtaction, praxis] (Tom Blancato) (I still prefer the latter) [deep listening] (Fred Maur) [complexity] (MER) and just today something that remotely sounded like the ill-fated new-hegelians of Palmer days (now THAT was a lousy list name, and it killed what should have been a thrilling list) which might be called, oh, I dunno, [misrecognition] or [symptom], [sinthome?] or [bouleversements] or [boulevards] or [barricades] or something. I'd say let's go with dialogism already--we all think it's great--and come up with decent names/infos/projects for the second two, get a little more out of MER but basically it sounded cool, and discuss some more about the last. Have I missed anything? And is spoon collectively going to discuss amongst yourselves as they say and get back to us? Should we maybe discuss consolidating other lists, like the one seminar list which is basically dead (14? 10?)? What, for the uninitiated, is actually involved in setting up a new list in terms of programming & bureaucracy? Are we discussing practical impossibilities? Or is it actually feasible to think about better and more FLEXIBLE ways to run these things? -f ------------------
