Eric,

I think your weaving together of Kuhnian paradigm theory with Lyotard's
notion of language-games is an intersting move. What is distinctive
about Kuhnian paradigm theory is that we study how the theorist breaks
out of the paradigm thereby abandoning normal science. Often, Kuhn tells
us, it is because the proponent of the paradigm dies and the next
generation is able to transcend the earlier view.

This seems like a rather sluggish version of paralogy. Whereas I am
inclined to think of the paralogical process in terms of discourse that
fosters creative revision (so that we can publish new books, produce new
ideas in a continuous way) you seem to be looking at what is paralogical
about discourse which has a great deal of difficulty escaping the
non-paralogical -- but eventually does so.

What do you think?
