i think jfl addressed the issue of why he left s or b in an essay tranaltaed
as teh appendix to PERIGRINATIONS which is mostly his three wellek (?)
lectures.....if i remember correctly its an essay written more or less as a
letter to one who didn't leave from one who did.....but you ptrobably know if
it already
