I'd be glad to present something to the French Department at Emory, if
you think that would be the appropriate gesture. Those present?
There's a question to store away for future consideration.

By "those present", I meant subscribers to the List who are reading
these messages today, tomorrow, soon. And our message would,
  hopefully,
be presented by the end of the week if we so agree. Thanks to
Bayard this would be possible. Now we have three names,

 message of condolence.

Please add my name to the list. How does one respond to the death
of a stranger, immanent in his writing to one's life, a philosopher?
I am thankful for all that I have learned, and am yet to learn from
  Lyotard's writings.

Hoping that the oddity of such a memorial would bemuse or please Prof.
Lyotard, I too mourn his death as I celebrate his legacy of rigorous
thinking, exorbitant celebration, and unflinching commitment to the
understanding and amplifying the meaning of justice in an unjust world.

Grace and peace,

Bon Voyage - Jean Francois Lyotard - your name endures - no doubt -
it forms ‘part of the treasure of phrases’

We say good-bye by sending your name off to its unpredictable
