Biology seems to be the new enemy of religion and philosophy. Genetic research and knowledge of morphology/organism/environment will give religion a jolt comparable to telescopes and Galileo. What humans are is what they do - the roles natural phenomena compel their body/minds to play.
Biology operates the "Selfish Gene" (Dawkins). The actual and scientifically possible opportunities for a human male to replicate his genes, far outnumber the limited role of females in their reproductive cycle.
On TV, there have been stories of the generosity of the Bin-Laden family, who, over the years, have donated millions to Harvard. Two Bin-Laden brothers, supposedly have fathered 50 children (or was it 50 males) with their several wives.
The traditional male role and dominance of females is threatened by the Western freedom of females who now pursue careers formerly reserved for males only. They often postpone parenthood or reject it, and the 2000 census showed that only 23 percent of households were composed of children who live with both parents.

A "War" of infinite, or any other kind of justice may fail to "prevent" future attacks when intelligence and prevention are what is most needed.
A priori revelation of plans for a minor attack may reveal informants and help other elements of the Osama Bin Laden's 60 country network to maintain and execute plans for a major attack.
