With regard to your negative responses to 'Empire' (actually Hugh have 
you ever responded positively to a left wing text?) Given the number of 
 texts in the world - 1 acceptable and workable idea in 490 pages is 
quite a a good ratio.  Compared to some authors i could mention it is an 
extraordinarily good ratio...  

A better method of supplying Healthcare, schooling and so on - free at 
the point of need has never been found than the welfare state systems. 
I'd direct your attention  towards the European healthcare and education 
systems which whilst they have been infected by the neo-liberal 
economics of recent decades have remained remarkably true to there 
historical roots.  To suggest that the welfare state systems exist to 
support 'corporate billionaires' is simply wrong - they are and remain 
sites of struggle and will remain so...
