That's a rich bit you've sent.  Here's some riffs:

Let's start with a power chord by one of the Gulf War Commanders, shall we?

"If you can't trust them with the medication, then you can't trust them with a 
50 million dollar airplane to try and kill someone."

Let's paraphrase this, perhaps:

"We're adults here, right?  Trust me; I won't scratch your fender up.  Sure I 
can handle it--Just Give Me the Keys, Mom.  It's not like I'm going to kill 
anyone that doesn't deserve it."  

Ah, but, perhaps, not as adult-like as it may appear.  Consider that at one 
point in the article, in order to give the audience some sense of the dosage 
(and it's always a matter of dosage!), they compare the pilot's speed to that 
that one might give a child to treat hyperactive disorders.  The medication of 
the masses, for the classroom, is an angle I had not considered as being tied 
up with the Gulf War:  US Pilots doped only to the degree of that kid that just 
doesn't what to sit still in the backrow, eh?  The kid that (unwittingly) 
helped further end of the capitalism via psychoanalysis (see Delueze and 
Guattari) by going in for a "just a little counseling."

"Timmy, these pills are going to help you relax; don't be nervous.  Why, our 
pilots use much the same medication when they're bombing the shit out of people 
over in Iraq."

But wait!  There's more!  (There's Always More!)  

Evidently, according to the article, when the pilots come down, they haven't 
quite landed.  They need to take "no-go" pills to make sure they're grounded.  

"This is Gold Eagle to Tower, have I landed? Over."
"This is Tower to Gold Eagle--have you taken your Flinstones?  Over."
"Eagle to Tower.  Barney Rubble is away.  OVer."
"Welcome home, Gold Eagle.  Out."
