Assuming the imaginary scenario below - then rather obviously I would argue
that research and especially scientific research should be halted which
supports 'posthuman' scenarios. Given that no 'actual' information would be
circulated..... The position being that it is not scientific research in
itself which provokes my reservations and my opposition but its postion
within an economy which needs to exploit nature and it's creatures (human
and non-human) and tends to not be in their favour. I don't disapprove of
research generally but anything that places any positive results in the
control of those who understad the results as a means of monetary/power
gains i do disaprove of. (the will to power rather than the will to
existence one might say). The immediate research stopping would include
Moravec and Stellarc would not be recieving arts funding of course...

As of today - given the possible understanding of what Moravec is doing
being available in text and published form - I suppose it's acceptable that
he is financed, as we can immediately recognise the unethical nature of his
work. (immortality of any form being granted to the powerful is immoral and
unacceptable...)

But in your scenario below it is necessary to call for a moratorium on all
research, entertaining thought...

steve
