Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2004 14:24:39 -0800 (PST) From: Evgeni Pavlov <evpav-AT-yahoo.com> Subject: Re: Adieu to 2003 (belated) happy new year everyone, i am sorry but i wasn't able to add my lines to the fascinating exchange of ideas related to 2003 - isn't it interesting to see what people liked and didn't like? anyway, since there isn't any particular set of questions, here is my 2003: music: 1) best jazz record: Skerik's Syncopated Taint Quintet 2) best gig attended: Garage a Trois with Sex Mob (or maybe Blackalicious with The Lifesavas) 3) best new discovery: blue series on thirsty-ear records (matthew shipp, dj spooky, william parker and etc) books: 1) best book read: Lyotard's Confession of Augustine (first reaction: what the hell? then symphaty... now unconditional love) 2) worst book-related experience: absolute boredom while reading stuff about barnett newman, i.e. attempting to see what is written about his ideas of sublime and generally his art - very little interesting stuff: will accept recommendations 3) best rediscovered book - *beyond pleasure principle* life: 1) deepest thought of 2003: introduction of categories of passive and active sense of humor in a ever-so-popular bar conversations about sense of humor :-) 2) realization of the year: if not for chosen professional path, i'd rather be a bass player in a punk band... 3) dissapointment of the year: jesus didn't come back (damn!) evgeni __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
