Also there are a quite a few interviews lost to forgotten scholarly journals. Also, the english books Toward the Postmodern and The Assassination of Experience by Painting have impecable bibliographies you could consult. Just a few references I've found: "Reponse a la Question: Qu'est-ce que le postmoderne?" in Critique, 38 no. 419, and trans in: Hassan and Hassan, eds. Innovation/Renovation: New Perspectives on the Humanities Madison: U of Wisconsin Press, 1983. That might be reprinted in Pomo Condition. It could even be in The Assassination of Experience by Painting. I'm at Emory, where he taught last, so I'll ask around. It's a valid point, and I'd be interested in knowing your purposes in using this line of thought, given that you are in the school of nursing. I am in Comparative Literature, Psychoanalysis, and Philosophy. I use Lyotard's work mainly for aesthetics and theories of subjectivity. In any case, hope that helps, Roger Taylor Dept. of Comparative Literature Emory University Atlanta, GA James Ronan <jronan-AT-ronan-associates.com> wrote: Question to all: I am currently seeking an original source in Lyotard's work of the following comments made by Sim in: Sim, S. The icon critical dictionary of postmodern thought. Cambridge, Eng.: Icon Books. "How long postmodernity will last is an open question: as far as theorists like Jean-Francois Lyotard are concerned, the modern and the postmodern alternate over time, in which case our current phase of postmodernity may be no more than a temporary respite before another outbreak of modernity". I have not been successful in tracking down this point. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
