Subject: M-FEM: What kind of list would you like this to be?


Dear All,

Since this list doesn't seem to currently fulfill any hopes any of us may
have in connection with it, I propose we start a discussion of what needs 
to be done for the list to become active and useful.  

The list is currently set up so that all posts go to me for approval.
I would like to encourage everyone who has a vision of how to make the list
viable to try and articulate this vision.  Why is the list not working now?
What prevents you from posting?  What would encourage you to post?  What
should the list's character be?  How should this character be achieved?
What kinds of issues would you like to see discussed?  Why are you hesitant
to start a discussion of these issues?  And so on.  

Since all messages go to me for approval, you can indicate in your messages 
if you want it to be private, i.e. not got to the list.  For those messages
that are not marked private, I will exercise my usual biased judgement 
as to whether to post them to the list or not. 

If you think that this in itself is not a useful way to proceed, please give
me your suggestions as to a better way.
