		To whom...,

Although I think I might disagree with Ms. Quan about a few things
(I'm certain I would), I am fascinated and quite pleased that this
conversation has brought her to the list. Although I admit that I never
considered the possibility that a woman with Ms. Quan's credentials might
visit the list, I now wonder whether Marxism-Feminism - a list devoted to
issues of sex and the worker - can be quite complete without a voice
representing the sex worker. I hope that Ms. Quan and the rest of the
list will be tolerant and open with each other, given the likely disparity
in our points of reference. Welcome, Comrade Quan.

I wonder Ms. Quan, whether you find certain stereotypes of women
demeaning to women and destructive to them in the broad societal,
political realm. If so, would you nonetheless use the trappings of such a
stereotype (clothes, etc.) in your work to satisfy a client's personal
preference or are there situations where you might find personal
preference too demeaning to women *in general* and therefore politically
distasteful? When it comes to prostitution, are there situations where
the personal becomes political?

	peace,
