This is a response to a question raised by Carroll and Renate in a recent
posting. Both asked about books on marxist feminism.
By early fall Chrys Ingraham and I will publish (via Routledge) a Reader
entitled
Materialist Feminism: A Reader in Class, Difference, and Women's Lives.

Most of the anthology is a selective compilation of marxist feminist work
from 1969. The last third is new work. Our objective in putting this
collection together was to bring into circulation marxist feminist
anlayses that do not shy away from addressing capitalism as a class system
and the material realities of women's lives within it. Like Renate, and
others on the left and working in the academy, we see the need to bring
anti-capitalist analysis back into feminism if feminism is to have any
viability as a transformative social movement. One step in
this process is to make available those knowledges that have been so
actively suppressed in Women's Studies--and elsewhere in the academy.

The Reader should be available in September.
