Marsha--
	Welcome to the list.
Interested to find that you were going to get my book even before you
joined. How did you hear about it? Women's Review? Anyway, let me know what
you think as you read (mgullette-AT-msn.com)
I'm learning a lot from this list, but I too don't always follow the
language. Uneven development, mine I mean. And the issues change with some
rapidity.

I have been lurking on the list for about two weeks, and was, I admit, a
bit dismayed to find just how far outside "academia" I am! Thankfully,
Margaret, I began to comprehend your post as I read it, and was
delighted to find you are the author of the book I am ordering from my
local feminist bookstore.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a "second wave" feminist, I guess,
having come of age in time for the 70's. In addition to a technical job,
I am currently a grass-roots activist, working with a group that raises
awareness of issues of violence against women and girls in Rochester,
New York. (our web page is at http://www.mooreresults.com/WAVE ) I
was intrigued by the purpose of this list: to increase communication
between feminists inside and outside of academia.

I would be delighted if listmembers would take a few minutes to help me
assemble a reading list, so that I can come up to speed and join in the
discussion.

Thanks for your time.

Marsha Peone
