-------------------------------------

Roisin McAliskey, daughter of Bernadette Devlin McAliskey,
is a community worker, 25 years old, and is almost six
month's pregnant. She was originally detained by the RUC
and held in Castlereagh detention center in Belfast for six
days, and then transferred to Britain. The RUC cancelled a
medical examination at a local hospital when she was
originally detained. She is facing attempts to force
extradition to the Federal Republic of Germany to answer
questions though she denies that she was in Germany. Gareth
Pierce, who was portrayed in the film "In the Name of the
Father," is her barrister. She had been held at Her
Majesty's Prison Belmarsh, an all-male maximum security
prison without female facilities, though she has now been
returned to HMP Holloway where she was first held. Roisin
has a long history of asthma, has an ulcer and she has had
problems with this pregnancy.

Her next hearing is on December 20th, 1996.

BAIL SHOULD BE GRANTED IMMEDIATELY.

One of the British government ministers at the Home Office,
Timothy Kirkhope MP for Leeds North East, has responsibility
for extradition. He may therefore be interested in people's
views on the detention of Roisin McAliskey pending
extradition to Germany. Mr. Kirkhope is a solicitor by
trade so should know something about the flimsy basis of the
German's interest (or is it really the RUC's) in McAliskey.
Ironically, Mr. Kirkhope also has responsibility for
Miscarriages of Justice!

You can show your concern by picketing his office, clogging
