Subject: M-G: Sexual and Political Subversions


Justin has already done a really good job of demolishing RM's non-arguments
about the "evil" of homosexuality, so I do not mean to belabor the same
point. But RM's equation of homosexuality with "bourgeois decadence"
reminds us of one of the historical failures of "formerly or currently
existing degenerate workers' states." In both the Cold War America and the
Eastern Bloc, homosexuals were accused of political subversion and
political dissenters were often portrayed as sexual perverts. In the U.S.,
people often got red-baited and queer-baited at the same time: "Pinko,
Commie, Fag! Go to Russia!" I submit that Marxists in capitalist countries
had better keep this bit of history in mind.
