Subject: M-G: The general crisis of capitalism

Hi

This question is a bit of the topic but I haven't heard any political
economy discussion on this list since I have been connected. Is there a
reason for this ? Is a study of capital, capitalism and imperialism no
longer an important question for Marxists ? Or am I missing the point ?

Do list members have a view about the current 'crises of
capitalism'/crisis of capitalism ? Or am I wrong in thinking that there
is a crisis of capitalism ? What are the causes ? Is it being
driven by the falling rate of profit or a crisis of overproduction in
classical Marxist terms ? Has interimperialist rivalry got anthing to do
with the crisis ? Which imperialists are involved ? Do list members believe
that the crisis is now expressed as a 'long wave' or that it has been
modified by greater state intervention in economies ? Has the collapse of
state capitalism in eastern Europe and stagnation of capitalism in Japan
got anything to do with the crisis ? What is the role of finance capital
and debt ?

Oops, I have probably said a few more things than I wanted to.

Anyway, something for you all to chew on.
