Thanks for sending this highly informative post! It's the best essay I
have read on Peru for a long time.

Your post reinforces my belief that *if* the Shining Path comes to power,
which I think is highly unlikely, then it will be as part of a coalition
government with the national bourgeoisie. It seems absurd to believe, in
this context, that if the Shining Path came to power that they would even
_attempt_ to overthrow capitalist property relations. More likely, they
would be yet another example of "Marxists" in power who do everything
possible to _maintain_ capitalism.

Perhaps the current situation will provide a window of opportunity for
real socialist revolution in Peru.
