Regarding Bob's post on the spread of Nazi propaganda amongst
Swedish youth, it should be kept in mind that the existence of widespread
pro-Nazi sentiment is hardly new or unprecedented in Sweden.  When I read
the film maker Ingmar Bergman's autobiography *The Magic Lantern* I was
struck by his account of how rampant pro-Nazi sentiment was in the
bourgeois and petty bourgeois
millieu in which he grew up in the 1930's.  Bergman recounts that his
brother
was a founder and organizer of the Swedish National Socialists and that
his father voted for them several times and  that some of his teachers
attended
officers' meetings in Bavaria.  Furthermore, Bergman himself visited
Nazi Germany at the age of 16 as an exchange student with the consequence
that he became by his own account an enthusiast for Hitler.  This lasted
until after WW II when the evidence from the concentration camps could
no longer be ignored or explained away.

Concerning, the present situation in Sweden I am not in a position to
say whether Sweden is particularly unique.  Neo-fascist movements
appear to be on the upswing through much of Europe.  The recent
elections in France showed that the National Front is now electorally on
par
with the other major parties of the right.  It seems unlikely that the
right
can take power again there without the other rightist parties cutting a
deal
with the National Front. The kind of propoganda concerning Holocaust
revisionism that Bob is concerned with is certainly widely available 
in the U.S.
