The following is a first draft report (No.3) for
Straightfacts Radio on the situation in Finland. This will
be going up at the NEW site at my homepage called:

"Radio Time" along with the first two reports on
Bosnia and the Baltic States...

Good Evening, this is Bob Malecki reporting 
for Straightfacts somewhere in northern Scandinavia
quite near the Polar Circle! In fact for our liserners
I should mention that the nearest large city, to me, is
Murmansk which houses the Russian North Atlantic
fleet (including its once powerful nuclear submarine base).

Finland 1997!

Tens of thousands of workers and their families 
on souplines and breadlines, as ruling 
class/bougeoisie bathe in champagne!

Block long lines of workers and their familes,
in every city and large town in Finland
standing in breadlines and souplines awaiting
a handout of food has become everyday life on
the Scandinavian peninsula! This is not the 
depression of the 30ties but July 1997!

This is everyday reality for tens of thousands of workers
in Finland as the Finnish ruling class baths lierally
in Champagne as profits for Finnish capitalism 
sore to new breathtaking heights! Begging for a
bowl of soup and a bag with bread!

The Finnish ruling class has a particully brutal
and viscious history going back to the great October
Revolution in Russia in drowning the Finnish working
class in blood!

Already soon after the victory of the October
Revolution where Lenin and Trotsky declared that
Finland then a Russian Provence was given the right
to self-determination and the building of a Finnish
state. This step led to a bloody civil war where
the working class and its parties were defeated
and hundreds of thousands either died or were
imprisoned.

During world war 2 the Finnish ruling class seeing
their chance, when the Soviet Union was invaded by the
Nazi's, got involved in the war on the Nazi's side.
With the defeat of the Nazi's and a peace treaty
forced on Finland which meant that a large part of
Finland (Karelen) became part of the Soviet Union.

Today the Finnish ruling class with a long history
of blood on the Finnish working class on its hands
not only remembers and wants to take revenge on the
ex-Soviet Union, but has the long term goal in getting
the land area lost at the end of World War 2, which
is ironically still today called "Finnish Karelen) back.

But getting back to the soup lines and bread lines
of tens of thousands of workers and their families,
the situation must be seen in light of the special
treaty that was signed between Finland and the 
ex-Soviet union at the end of the war.

This treaty imposed on a weakened Finnish ruling
class by Stalin which in a sense led to that 
capitalism in Finland although weakened by the war
was never smashed, but became subsevient to the
rulers of the Kremlin and rebuilt their industries
on the basis of contracts of products and services
to rebuild the ex-Soviet Union which was devastated
by the Nazi invasion.

This special treatment for the Finnish capitalists
led to the creation of the modern Finnish welfare
state along the lines of its neiboring Scandinavian
countries like Sweden,Norway and Denmark.

With the distintegration of the Soviet Union, Finland
with its special historical compromise of producing
goods and services for the degenerated workers state
practically disappeared overnight! Leading to a
million workers being thrown out on the streets in
unemployment and now soup and breadlines in order for
their families to survive.

Now that the Finnish economy is not only picking up,
but reaching new records of profits (especially in
the timber and paper industries) connected to production
of machinery, factories around these industries
mainly with new market orientating towards Europe, but
also NEW capitalist enterprises in the ex-Soviet Union
to wrip off the ex-Soviet Union forests to supply
both the Swedish and Finnish paper industries with cheap
raw material--the Finnish bougeoisie like its
counterparts in Sweden are bathing in Champagne. 

This as the soup lines and bread lines for 
Finnish workers just gets longer and longer!
And what is extremely sadistic about this
soup and breadline operation is the fact that
the food is coming from the Common Market
warehouses where over-production of food
products are stored at the same time as the
common market is subventioning big farmers
with billions of Euro-dollars in support
for this over-production!

Synically the present Social Democratic government
in Sweden has refused this help from the common market
over-production warehouses. Claiming that in Sweden
"we have a welfare state"! But the truth is that the
soup lines and bread lines at the Salvation army
in Sweden are just getting longer and longer also!

A representative of the Finnish ruling political
coalition of the Center Party (Bougeois) and the
Finnish Social Democrats when questioned by reporters
about the block long soup and breadlines said:

"Well, ten years of mass unemployment in Finland has
unfortunately created a 'lifestyle' for people here
who do not want to work! and the government will just have
to find some new solutions to the problem!"

In fact, the Finnish ruling class with its viscious and 
bloody history are quickly dismantling the "Finnish"
model of the welfare state as their Swedish partners.
The new plans will be more cuts in the public sector
connected to driving down wages and introducing
house help and cleaning ladies to take care of their
homes and children as they go off to the next
champagne and caviar party! Connected to this is
the fact that the Finnish ruling class is prepared
to march on the orders of NATO into the ex-Soviet Union
in order to take back the "Finnish Karelen" and much
more if possible!

The desperate need of a Bolshevik/Leninist Trotskyist
Party in Finland as well as Sweden to fight with a 
program to smash the ruling classes in these countries
and especially the Finnish ruling class who's history
is the blood of millions of Finnish workers and their
families going back to the great Russian Revolution has
been on the order of the day for decades. The Finnish 
workers and their families have a score to settle with
the bloody Finnish ruling class going back a very long
time!

This connected to Bolshevik/Lenists Trotskyist Parties
in a Revolutionary International on the European
continent fighting for the leadership of the working 
classwith the goal new October Social Revolutions
from Portugal to the Urals!
