Double-*think* is what the Trots engage in
[Posted. 20.09.97]

This is part of a debate on the Marxism-General mailing list
(M-G) managed by the Spoon Collective (see http://jefferson.
village.Virginia.EDU/~spoons/), and is also sent to newsgroups.

In a quite recent posting, "Double-talk - part of the essence of
Trotskyism", I commented on a posting by Rob L. as containing
what I "quoted" Orwell as haveing called, in his book "1984",
"double-talk". That wasn't a correct quote, of course, as I
now realize. What Orwell (who according to some people was not
a Trotskyite himself, which I always thought he was) did write
about was something even "subtler", of course: "Double*think*",
as a "necessary" part of the fascist "Big Brother" system.

Isn't that precisely what you must engage in, if you're to
believe in that phony"Marxist", in reality bourgeois ideology
called "Trotskyism"?

I refer you again to my comments in that earlier posting on
one earlier by Rob L., whom I have no reason, as I already
said, to believe is being consciously dishonest. But in what
he wrote, the contradiction just SHRIEKS out, doesn't it?

Rolf M.
