1. MARIATEGUI AUTOBIO NOW ON INTERNET

Autobiographical note by Peruvian Marxist Jose Carlos Mariategui,
written in 1927, is now available as part of the MEIA's Mariategui
Archive, at: < http://www.marx.org/mariategui/1927-bionote.htm >.

More items translated into English will also appear in the near
future, particularly the collection of lectures titled "History of the
World Crisis," in which Mariategui examines the causes and effects of
the crisis of bourgeois democracy provoked by World War I.

In imposing the changes that he did on the M-G List, Hans Ehrbar
stated that he wanted a "slower versionof Marxism-International." I
don't know what M-I is like since I could not subscribe due to its
apparently being closed when I applied in late December. But I do know
that M-G *is* slower. Whereas, the digest form to which I subscribe
used to fill up and arrive at least daily, now majordomo sends it out
every 2 to 3 days. Ehen it does arrive, it consists of a few
subscribers' posts. The openenness and varietythat Mr. Ehrbar foresaw
have not materialized. I assume that many others have unsubscribed, ot
like me find the limits so onerous that they hold off on contributions
for fear of "wasting" thir allotment or because the 10k limit gets so
much in the way. I suspect that many have unsubscribed altogether. Mr
Ehrbar said his changes would make things better, it seems that in fact
they are killing M-G. Thanks a lot!
