Paranoia is justifiable if you are right, this does not say much for
any state that there is no mechanism to controll an insane leader no
matter how great his services might have been.75% + of the delegates to
the 1934 Congress, where there were few or none left or right
oppositionists were purged.Surely they had a majority .
As the childrens story goes you need Democracy so someone will have the
guts to say the Emperor has no clothes, otherwise the crawlers etc will
do nothing but tell lies. This explains in part the really abysmal
economic situation in the eastern bloc before the wall came down
I presume our stalinists probably think they live off the fat of the
land in North Korea.
The safest place for veterans of the International Brigades of Spain in
the early fifties was paradoxically the West because of the paranoid
purges in the East.
