From: "Bob Malecki" <malecki-AT-algonet.se> Subject: M-G: SV: On our situation Date: Fri, 24 Apr 1998 05:49:23 +0200 Dear lists, Been thinking about a temporary solution to keeping M-G and thaxis open. Why not move over to one of the "Usenet" lists like "alt.society.revolution" or in the future start a Usenet site..like "alt.discussion Marxism" or something.. This would be a lot easier and cheaper way for all involved and we would slip the endless bureaucratic maneuvering of those who want to get control of the button. The list would be open to all and there are numerous versions of software which would make it rather easy to work almost like and Email list..And we would also slip being dependent on the good wishes and politics of a small dedicated collective who under pressure enforce political Hari Kari on the lists claiming that it is all the fault of that person or this click etc.. This at least could be a temporary solution to the present crisis. In the long run even Jefferson village in its death gnall appears to be continued on the course of various list actors trying to maneuver themselves into position to start new lists which will build in the very same contradictions which led to its demise.. That is trying to control the lists through all kinds of organization maneuvers and chest bleating. Only those who have in one way or another tried to gag, ban, invent special rules and all the rest of the organizational and bureaucratic maneuvering will then lose there influence and the daily whining of trying to neck somebody.. Another point which makes Usenet a good alternative is the fact that no matter how our heroes try to claim their almost holy dedication to the free exchange of ideas they to are working in the ram of Interment in the final analysis being controlled by the class enemy and this makes a "Usenet" alternative much harder for the class enemy to close down, put pressure on or the other way around the actors of places like Jefferson Village being pressured buy the class enemy to "clean" their act up which appears to be the case at present.. There ain't no way to stop lists from being infiltrated and destroyed or controlled unless one clearly argues for the fullest possible access and the widest possible discussion. Let the power of argument and politics rule and not the various biased human material who under all kind of pressure try to bureaucratically stop the train through all kinds of maneuvers.. On a Usenet channel it will be only the power of the discussion and every subscribers right to use the "delete" button which will rule...There will be no limit to posing and in fact we might hook into a much wider audience.. I think this at least is a viable alternative to the present alternatives that seem not to be pooping up here..Naturally ant other solutions for example checking out servers in other continents besides the U.S and setting up operations would be a good idea. If our heroes actually were interested in "discussion" and widening the circle of people getting involved in these discussions rather then bureaucratic control which bottoms in fear of facing political opponents and sharp ideological confrontations we would be taking a great step. On a Usenet channel their would be room for all kinds of discussion.. So instead of "duck shooting" in the now rather irrelevant and dying "duckponds" I suggest we agree on moving the operation to a Usenet channel so that the discussions can continue when the plug is pulled.. Finally it is quite interesting this post list discussion going on. in fact it is a lesson of the of just not how to organize discussion..Already the very same things that destroyed Jefferson Village are being argued for as a new model. It won't work and in fact the only thing that can come out of these discussions is a Internet version of the Potemkin Village or a version-versions of varying degrees of "Lenin" lists as the organizational model.. It proves that many people who want to maneuver and gag and open debate in fact do have something to lose. This is why the need for finding scapegoats and enemies of all kinds just to stop open discussion has now become the model which in the final analysis destroyed Jefferson Village..
