Committee yes!; Usenet yes!; Official lists here! [Posted: 24.04.98] [This goes to soon-to-be-killed Marxism-General mailing list (M-G) managed by the Spoon Collective (see <http://jefferson.village.Virginia.EDU/~spoons/>) and to newsgroups, i.a. 'alt.socitety.revolution'.] 1. Vladimir has proposed an emergency committee for the resur- rection of M-G elsewhere. A good idea. I'd like to join that committee. 2. His history of the Spoons' M1 and later M-G is not so accurate, though. 3. I really would like to try to run a list. But as I wrote, I at the moment can't master the technical difficulties. Advice would be welcome. 4. Mark Jones has the knowhow for doing such a thing, he says. But he won't do it unless ha can say "off with their heads!" to Bob Malecki, Hugh Rodwell and others. Then it absolutely wouldn't be an M-G type of list then, which is what I and, I think, many others are after, but another social-imperialist SiberiaSwamp ("LeninList") like the infamous one on whose board of moderators he, Mark, was (is?). Bob M. and Hugh R. both represent reactionary Trotskyism/Khrushchovism but none of them have done anything to merit an exclusion. So I propose "no, thank you" to Mark's suggestion. Expertise is needed but not when necessarily combined with white-guardism. 5. Bob Malecki's suggestion (the same as I already made last January): Why not simply USE USENET, and in the first place write to newsgroup 'alt.society.revolution' (yes, I thought so too) IMO is a very good and practical one. Why must the discussions necessarily take place through the medium of a mailing list? This has advantages some advantages, yes, but a newsgroup has some very big ones too. As Bob M. rightly said, no "overlor- ding", for instance. That's important. 6. Malgosia writes that I said she "had a habit of" lying through her teeth. All can see I only mentioned one instance of such activity on her part. But with that other statement, she does seem to be trying to form such a habit. Bad, bad, Malgy. Say good-bye to such things, or more and more people will say good-bye to you. (I'm providing this advice free of charge to some other people too.) 7. Much better was the Spooners' (Malgy, soon-to-be-ex Host Hans, etc) actually complying with that request of mine for a look at the (formerly) forbidden lists of subscribers to M-G and M-G Digest. In a closing and farwell (sob, sob!, bye, bye!) statement, the same Spooners (who, yes, did perform some meritorious services in the past; that should be recognized too) are saying that which I guessed they perhaps might be not completely insincere about: They do want to help others start M-G type lists else- where. The following lists which I recently got from them may be taken as signs of such sincerity; these thus are the official ones (and I suggest people follow that "last-word-and-testament" suggestion by the Spooners too, and do subscribe to marxism- transition): SUBSCRIBERS TO SPOONS' M-G, 23.04.1998, OFFICIAL LIST: jpmonteiro-AT-mail.telepac.pt ehrbar5-AT-econ.utah.edu 74742.1651-AT-CompuServe.COM shmage-AT-pipeline.com okafor-AT-kutztown.edu cynewulf-AT-pacbell.net rolf.martens-AT-mailbox.swipnet.se teacher-AT-nownuri.nowcom.co.kr JESSE-AT-wwpublish.com cdavidson-AT-igc.apc.org pbucking-AT-calvin.linfield.edu Vladimir Bilenkin <achekhov-AT-unity.ncsu.edu> m-18043-AT-mailbox.swipnet.se sestrada-AT-fismat1.fcfm.buap.mx esker-AT-crl.com mikeski-AT-eskimo.com CHAND_G-AT-usp.ac.fj aksop-AT-media.ankara.edu.tr m_c_01a1-AT-frank.mtsu.edu aga-AT-ufc.br sophiam-AT-compulink.gr phoward-AT-emunix.emich.edu jamesfulton-AT-usa.net m.carlini-AT-flashnet.it l-marxism-gen-AT-igc.apc.org joshd-AT-russiamail.com pws-AT-umich.edu jschaffner-AT-igc.apc.org daymonj-AT-aol.com rodrigoa-AT-almaak.usc.edu bomber-AT-globalpac.com notchris-AT-webtv.net mao_docs-AT-blythe.org olae-AT-interact.se marxism-general-AT-carrenet.com jjlassen-AT-mail.sysnet.net.tw ferdi-AT-deathsdoor.com mlbooks-AT-mcs.com gerry-AT-gerryd.demon.co.uk rlyon-AT-gpu.srv.ualberta.ca gino-AT-sottovoce.it comvox-AT-flash.net siddhart-AT-mailbox.syr.edu gidonraz-AT-netvision.net.il belbo-AT-scorpio.venturanet.it weklu-AT-mail.skylink.de dhenwood-AT-panix.com vedder-AT-ksu.edu crobin-AT-eden.rutgers.edu Schneider-AT-gmx.net cmontero-AT-uol.com.br pedro-AT-netservice.com.mx dacard-AT-pacbell.net "Sheila Walters" <swalters-AT-odu.edu> malecki-AT-robertsfors.mail.telia.com Olae_M-Gen-AT-flamman.interact.se (Olae_M-Gen) Jorn Andersen <jorn.andersen-AT-vip.cybercity.dk> wellsfargo-AT-tinet.ie "Charles MacKay"<charlesmackay-AT-hotmail.com> dse-AT-mediacity.com louisgodena-AT-ids.net (Louis R Godena) Hugh Rodwell <m-14970-AT-mailbox.swipnet.se> Matthew Parham <farcical-AT-jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu> nestor-AT-sisurb.filo.uba.ar Walter Daum <WGDCC-AT-CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU> "p_idkdd" <p_idkdd-AT-zelator.berlinet.de> Juan Fajardo <fajardos-AT-ix.netcom.com> "Jose F.
