 This is bizarre.  David Welch now seeks to brand comrade "M.L."
as being "ashamed of his/her" past.  Anyone reading the letter
(_WV_ No. 688 10 April. p.3) will note that the comrade is quite
forthcoming -- not even for the first time on this issue -- yet
it's that very candor the dishonest Sparts twist into a headline
having nothing to do with what is said!

 David Welch calls it "whine about phrasing" when WV invents
the words

           "I am Not Now and Never Have Been"

 and puts them in the mouth of this militant responding to
INACCURATE CHARGES INVENTED BY DISHONEST SPARTS THEMSELVES
in _WV_ No. 686, 13 March 1998.

 Are Spart apologists on the Net always as dishonest as 
David Welch was here?  Yep. 

 Their symps are even worse.

 On news:alt.politics.socialism.trotsky a Spartacist symp
recommended the three-volume set of Spartacist bulletins
on the purge of the former head of their Australasian,
New Zealand and British national sections, Bill Logan:

 What was interesting was the part of that story that 
[spart symp] Holmes DIDN'T tell.  It was AFTER all those
things were done in the Spartacist League of Australia and
New Zealand that Bill Logan was REWARDED by being made the
head guru and leader maximo of the Spartacist League of
Britain!  

 That's why Holmes only quoted Part III, "The Dishonorable
Schoolboy Sent Down"; there is also a Part I and a Part II
to this story, showing (in part) how this "schoolboy" 
graduated from "Spartacist University" with honors.
[This, too, is par for the course: Holmes next claimed not
to have access to Volumes I or II of the same work he
had just recommended that people buy from the SL!].

 It was only after Bill Logan was purged as leader of
the British section that the Spartacists claimed to
"discover" his seven-year long record of sexual abuse
and political sociopathy ... in Australia!

 The predecessor of the Spartacist ICL, the International
Spartacist Tendency (iSt) gave Logan all of Australasia 
and New Zealand as his private playground.

 Did they expel Logan for "sexual sociopathy"?  No, they
gave him a second fiefdom in the SL/B (largely constructed
through implantation from Canada and other countries).

 Did SL put Logan on trial for "inhuman torture of a mother,
rendered suicidal in his attempt to destroy and take away 
her baby?"  No, that part came years later -- after the
woman was rendered suicidal by the Sparts' own admission,
after Logan was rewarded with his post at SL/B, and only
after he was purged from that for spending more money
than James Robertson thought appropriate [see "Volume I"
of the Spartacists' anti-Logan alibi series].

 The Spart's admitted sexual pathology operation in 
Australasia and drove one of their own cadre to give
up her baby and attempt to commit suicide.

 The Spartacists' Potemkin International looked at Logan's
work in Australia and they pronounced it Good.   They put
Bill Logan in charge of their operation in Britain to raid
the Thornett group and set up a press based on WV reprints.

 Volume I, p. 37 offers this gem: even after Logan
got purged from SL/B over pecuniary stuff, senior
Spartadoody leaders were still praising his record
of seven years, the same "sexual sociopathy" and
"pathological lying" and "inhuman torture of a mother
rendered suicidal in his attempt to destroy and take
away her baby" which they later had to dance the 
Sergeant Schultz ["I know nutthink"] upon:
 
 "Comrade Logan's long years in principled struggle
to defend the party's program in New Zealand and the
building of the Australian section together with his
willingness to undertake any necessary indicated work
elsewhere underlines his fitness (albeit with gaps)
to serve as a member of the I.S. of the IEC.

 Volume I, p. 59, part of a long and "slightly edited
transcript of comrade Robertson's report on Britain 
to the New York local and ensuing discussion, 15 
October 1978," confirms that those "gaps" cited by
Robertson and  Foster didn't include Logan's "party
building" spree in Australia, cynically concluding:

 "You comrades should have read this material.
It's been available.  A nice endorsement.  The
only criticism was the parenthesis -- 'albeit
with gaps.'  Real nice." 

 Later, of course, the Sparts claimed that Evil Genius
Bill Logan lied to and manipulated them.  Their 
"International" leadership took a look at what Logan
did, and for more than seven years they couldn't tell
the difference between _that_ and the Leninist
norms of democratic centralism.

 But don't worry: these are the same people who
are gonna teach the rest of us all about the 
"norms" of Leninist organization and democracy. 

 And these are the hypocrites who libel M.L. as being
an ex-member of the ISO; when corrected on point, they
resort to slimy McCartyesque baiting of M.L.; and now
this David Welch suggests that "M.L." should be
ashamed in the current instance.

 Disgusting.
