Subject: M-G: On the close down of Marxism space

We protest and firmly condemn the closing down of the Marxism space, all the
Marxism lists hosted by the Spoon Collective.
In spite of many protests against it, it was announced again that Marxism-
General, like the whole Marxism space will be closed down on Mai 23rd. And it
looks as if there will be no compensation for Marxism-General, the only
unmoderated list.
The building up of new lists, the moving of some of the lists to new servers
in order to save some of the work accomplished over years and to continue the
work is OK and in this sense we will support this work.
But the closing down of the whole Marxism space still remains an outrageous,
matchless act.
During the last years Marxism space developed into an important forum where
international opinions from USA just as from Europe, from Latin America,
Russia and other parts of the world were brought together. Even if there was
now and than a useless and provocative contribution, on unmoderated Marxism-
General for example, this cannot on the whole be an excuse for closing down
Marxism space.
Closing down Marxism space at present is like muzzling the discussion. One
question, is there any pressure from outside? To some people it does not suit
how things have developed.
To continue the work, continue as many lists as possible and to build up new
ones, has to be supported. The more of such platforms exist the less the close
down of one hits.
