Louis: Look, George, I would appreciate it if you stopped trying to make
an amalgam between me and Doug Henwood. Doug is a responsible public
intellectual who in one issue of LBO makes more of a Marxist statement
than an entire year of Social Text.

I on the other hand am a complete lout. My Marxist is tainted with the
nastiness of Groucho and the buffoonery of Harpo. But that's just me.

I speak only for myself. I will continue to defend the fluffy shirt
wisecrack throughout eternity by the way. Gary McClennan is a friend of
mine but his gay sensibility comes first. If I didn't piss him off, then I
feel no need to make an apology. I think this "homophobia" charge is being
used in exactly the same way that charges of "male chauvinism" were used
against Sokal.
