	Let's not forget that C. L. R. James and his cothinkers in the 
American Trotskyist movement also developed an analysis of "state 
capitalism" beginning in 1941.  No doubt Cliff was familiar with this 
work, though there are certainly differences.  For instance, Cliff thinks 
that (1) Stalinist Russia was a capitalist society in which (2) the law 
of value did not operate.  Go figure.
