Subject: I'm back was Re: M-I: Jerry Levy's claim

greetings comrades.

I have been back for over a week but problems with my email meant that I
could not access the list. I could however and did wander around the
archives. It is a bit like being trapped in a time warp down there.
Fascinating of course but very distorting of reality asd Comrade Bilenki
showed us all. He I believe was the last one to spend a fair bit of time
in the archives, and was never the same afterwards.

Now some observations. I found the "snitch" affair incredible. Rosser
completely disgraced himself and his subsequent apology was as ungracious as
one would expect coming from him.

Jerry Levy is a different case. Whereas Rosser has a love (actually
obsession) - hate relationship with Comrade Proyect, Levy's is fairly
straightforwardly hate - hate.

The response from the moderators to him was extremely mild. I would have
bounced him for all eternity. I got to know Jerry during my brief spell as
a moderator on the old marxism list. I made the mistake of writing to him
off list. His neuroses are as catching as the Ebola virus and it took me
months to recover from that particular close encounter.

Now the Yudice correspondence with Louis was truly precious. It is obvious
that the Sokal affair continues to rankle with the beautiful people. Really
this particular hoax is a variation of the Emperor's New Clothes motif.
Somewhere Bhaskar says that this is the figure for our times. The academic
marxists, like the emperor, have been exposed and they dinna like it at all.

Nuff said about the list. I am glad to be back. certainly Britain and
Australia are in such a state at the moment that the internet looks more
inviting than ever.

regards

Gary
