I like Kevin Brien's MARX, REASON, AND THE ART OF FREEDOM (Philadelphia:
Temple University Press, 1987).
It also has the unique distinction of utilizing some notions of internal
relations outside the Marxist camp -- as articulated by the idealist
philosopher, Brand Blanshard.  It is a fine work.
