This is important enough. Getting acclimatized to this list can be traumatic. There is such a flow of posts and the discussion is always well under way so it can get like dipping your toe into a whirlpool and feeling the whole of your leg and body being sucked in. My suggestions: be draconian with the delete button; skim ferociously; be arbitrary; be yourself. Sooner or later you should find something or someone that appeals. Then start working more methodically. Be even quicker on the delete button with the others, but start working outwards from your newly found firm ground, and have a look at a post or two referred to there. This way you'll build up a scaffolding so you can take the rest of the list in your own way and your own time. Keep the beast on a short leash, and don't forget the whip. Remember, there's no compulsory attendance! Cheers, Hugh PS Congratulations to Carrol for having made it to retirement. The rest of us will be lucky to have any retirement left to make it to. --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
