I got questions for those of you who are (or were) in unions, as
rank-and-file members, stewards, paid organizers, etc. How do you work, as
marxists, within and against the generally conservative unions? What are
you doing to move your fellow workers to get beyond the level of trade
union consciousness? Gary and Jonathan's posts on the sorry spectacle of
union bosses betraying the best interests of workers and hobnobing with
capitalists recapitulate familiar problems. I would like to know what
marxists are doing to change this state of affairs.

Please don't give me the lecture on "fundamentals," or ask me to read
Lenin, Trotsky, etc. on these question. I have read them. What I want is
something a little more concrete. I am very eager to learn from the more
experienced.
